Unlock Your Athlete’s Full Potential with Garmin
WorkRate’s diagnostics and training insights are powered by Garmin, the leader in wearable performance technology.
With the right setup, we can capture lab-grade biomechanics, recovery, and sleep data—giving us the same precision you’d expect in a sports science lab, now applied directly to your athlete.
Owning gear is optional, but strongly recommended.
Note: WorkRate’s Garmin integration is available for athletes aged 13 and older.
Here are the pathways available:
Option 1: No Gear
Club-Supported
The club will provide Garmin loaner units for diagnostics only.
Athletes cycle through shared gear, so scheduling is required.
A good entry point, but limited in frequency, consistency, and depth of insights.
Option 2: Get the Gear
Recommended path for athletes who want end-to-end profiling, performance insights, and long-term health monitoring.
Recommended Setup
Best case: Garmin Forerunner 255 Music + HRM 600 chest strap.
This combination delivers the full WorkRate experience:
In-game analytics (HRM 600)
Lab-grade biomechanical stats (stride length, ground contact time, vertical oscillation).
Recovery and sleep tracking to ensure athletes adapt and avoid overload.
Home programming + daily readiness monitoring.
Many parents already own Garmin watches—those units can be donated to their athlete. Pairing with a new HRM 600 completes the system.
Option 3: Buy Your Gear Independently
Garmin gear is widely available through major retailers.
To ensure compatibility, choose a watch that supports:
Advanced running dynamics (for biomechanical assessment).
Respiration rate tracking during activities.
On-watch music storage (essential for cadence-guided training).
Starting point: Garmin Forerunner 255 Music Edition or later models.
Not all Garmin watches capture the full data set we use in our model.
Accessories & Training Tools
Athlete-Funded (Required)
To complete WorkRate testing and training, athletes will need:
Running headphones → for cadence-guided training and audio-driven testing.
Provided by WorkRate
Included in program registration
Every athlete receives a minimalist exercise kit to support corrective and performance training:
Corrective exercise ball → mobility + drills.
Strength band → sprint mechanics and gait training.
These simple tools ensure athletes can fully participate in movement correction, sprint development, and injury-resistant training.
Why Owning Gear Matters
Running Performance → Precise, lab-grade biomechanical insights.
Health & Safety → Injury-risk detection and smarter training loads.
Recovery & Sleep → Tracking ensures athletes adapt between sessions.
Consistency → No waiting for loaners, no gaps in data.
Independence → Athletes learn to self-manage training and recovery.
